Children ~ Teens


Storytime Classes

Ages 0-2 Storytime Class:

Short story, music and movement - in the story room

Tuesdays through July 20 at 9 or 10 am (except July 2)

Focus: ages 0-2 and their adult(s); older children welcome; first 25 children each class

Pre-register on our online calendar and arrive on time for a guaranteed spot or “fly stand-by”.  Registration opens one week before each class.


Ages 3-5 Storytime Class:

Stories, music, movement and a simple craft - in the story room

Mondays or Wednesdays through July 19 at 10 am (except June 19, July 1 & 3)

(simultaneous with Ages 6-11 Class)

Focus:  ages 3-5; younger siblings welcome if accompanied by an adult; older children welcome; first 30 children each class

Pre-register on our online calendar and arrive on time for a guaranteed spot or “fly stand-by”.  Registration opens one week before each class.


Ages 6-11 Storytime Class:

Stories, library skills, games and a craft - in the story room

Mondays or Wednesdays at 10 am (except June 19, July 1 & 3)

(simultaneous with Ages 3-5 Class); sign-in at 10 am, pick up in the Story Room at 11 am

Focus:  ages 6-11; older children welcome; first 25 children each class.

Summer Reading Challenges Ages 5-17

Reading logs (with more details) will be available beginning in mid May.  Look for them in the library or on the Classes, Clubs and Services page on our website, www.cityofcrestview.org/178/library.

Summer Kick-off: Didgeridoo Down Under!  6:30-7:15 p.m. on Friday, May 31 at Warriors Hall, 201 Stillwell Blvd

Reader Awards will be Friday, July 26 @ 6:30 pm, Warriors Hall, 201 Stillwell Blvd, Crestview.

Teen Time Fridays, 2:30-4:30 pm  6th-12th graders

June 1 - July 27

Adventure begins at the Destin Library this summer! Enjoy weekly special events and activities, personal online reading tracker and reading challenges with Beanstack,  achievement rewards for all ages, and Grand Prize drawings! 

Pre-Registration starts May 17th. Create your account through our Beanstack website at cityofdestin.beanstack.org or download the Beanstack app on your mobile device. Beanstack is a digital reading log where you will keep track of your reading challenge minutes and activities. The more minutes you log, the closer you get to earning reading rewards and an entry into the grand prize drawings. For help signing up with Beanstack, call us at 850-837-8572

Summer Reading Events

Summer Reading Kick-off: May 31, 6-7:30 pm Register for Summer Reading. Enjoy food, fun, and games. Preview prizes and get help from Library Staff registering on Beanstack, our reading tracker app.

Mr. Larry's Magical Misadventure June 20 at 11 am (all ages) at the Library.

Interlibrary Beach Cleanup July 27, 8 am (all ages) at Okaloosa Island Boardwalk - 1450 Miracle Strip Pkwy, Ft Walton Beach.

    Summer Reading Foam Kickoff Party  Saturday, June 1st from 10am-12pm at the Fort Walton Beach Rec Center.

    Baby Storytime (pre-walkers) every Friday at 10:30am (except for July 5th). 

    Lapsit (ages 0-3) two groups on Thursday mornings at 10:30am.  Each group will have the same classes and meet every other week.

    Group 1: June 6, June 20, July 11    Group 2: June 13, June 27, July 18

    Preschool Storytime (ages 3-6) every Tuesday at 10:30 am

    Choose Your Own Adventure (school-age storytime, ages 7-12) every Wednesday at 10:30am (except June 19th & July 3rd). We will be reading choose your own adventure stories and creating our own story throughout the summer.
